The following SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS are currently active in

the Welcome Club. More information is available to our Members in the

Members Only Section.

ARTS AND SMARTS

Activities related to all the arts: theatre, music, art, etc. followed by either lunch or dinner at a local restaurant.

CRAFT  PROJECTS GROUP

This is a new group formed in the fall of 2025. Ladies meet every other month or so to create a craft usually tied to an upcoming holiday time. For example they have created wreathes for fall,  Christmas and St. Patrick's Day holidays.  

BOOK BUFFS

Two groups of readers gather monthly for refreshments and lively discussions on book reviews, including one group specifically reviewing mystery books!

DAY TRIPPERS

This Group makes day trip adventures to locations in Washington, Virginia and Maryland a couple of times a year. Past excursions include The Newseum, The Smithsonian Museum of National History and the National Cathedral.

FUN WALKS

This group meets during good weather to explore local parks such as Meadowlark Gardens and Bull Run Regional Park.

FASHIONISTAS

This Group focuses on exploring fashion trends and sharing fashion fun. For example, previous activities have included Lord & Taylor sponsored fashion shows and a scarf tying seminar.

iCHARLEMOS!

This is a relatively new group for the Club. They meet once a month to converse in Spanish while enjoying snacks and camaraderie.

MUSIC MAKERS

This is a new group formed in the spring of 2026.  Join this group to enjoy singing op lyrics from various years and genres.

MEAL AND MOVIE

Be one of the Members on an email list for social activities organized on short notice...maybe a movie night, chance to see a local theatre matinee performance, special brunches, dinner, etc.

GOLF

The golfing Members get together for fun golf time and exercise!

HOME AND GARDEN

Trips organized to visit local gardens and home tours, especially in the spring, usually including lunch.

LADIES NIGHT OUT

This group enjoys an evening out at various restaurants for social time and a nice dinner with friends.

TEA TIME

Our Members who enjoy afternoon teas love this Group - they visit Tea Rooms all over Northern Virginia for delightful tea, tasty light lunch fare and usually some shopping!

TRAVEL TALK

This Group holds discussions about travel destinations, tips for travel to different countries, how to pack for different situations, cruising and much more!

WINE TASTERS

There is currently one group of Members with spouses or significant others who gather monthly in the evening to taste wines, socialize and of course enjoy some delicious food.  Also there are two Day-Time Groups for ladies who enjoy having a wine tasting with lunch. These get-togethers are held at various venues including member's homes as well as local wineries.

BRIDGE AND GAMES

Card & Game enthusiasts will find plenty of opportunities to keep skills sharp, or new players to learn, with a wide selection of Groups playing games.

Bridge:  Members play Beginners Bridge, Duplicate Bridge, Marathon Bridge, and Party Bridge.

Other Games:

        > We have three Canasta Groups including *Pennies from Heaven and *Hand and Foot groups.

        > American Mah Jongg Group meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month.

        > Chinese Mah Jongg group meets on the first and third Mondays of the month, and includes novices

           to the game so if you'd like to learn we'd love to have you!

        > There is a group playing Mexican Train on the second Thursday each month, and beginners are

           welcome!
